“Ability is what you're capable of doing. Motivation determines what you do. Attitude determines how well you do it.”
Why are you a photographer?
Have you ever asked one of your clients why they like working with you? Pay close attention to their answer and you will most certainly find your raison d'etre. Do not worry to hear that your talent as an image creator isn’t the main reason. Leave your ego to one side.
First and foremost, your client wants you to fulfill their needs and solve their problems. They are seeking an adventure. They want to feel like you have got the solution. They want results. Do not forget: what you sell is a service, a style, a brand image, a concept and a person, YOURSELF and, beyond all, solutions.
Actively listen by showing interest in satisfying the needs of your clients. Firstly, by putting your creativity at their service, even if you have to find alternative solutions. That’s the way forward to develop a satisfied and loyal clientele without taking them for granted.
Assignment of the month:
Ask five of your clients why they like working with you. Analyze their answers and use them to make your reputation grow.

Firstly, a new section called “Advice from the PhotoCoach” was created on our website. This monthly column, intended specifically for professional photographers, was created by André Amyot from PhotoCoach International, who specialises in communication and marketing in the photographic industry. He brings a series of reflections, tips and tricks for the many challenges today’s professional photographers may face. Also, he will suggest a new activity every month to motivate you and help elevate your career.
