Night photography is challenging both technically and compositionally. Some aspects of camera handling, such as meter reading and focusing, that work well during the day cause particular difficulty in low light. Then, it is not necessarily easy to compose a night photo. This workshop addresses both aspects.
A camera capable of taking long exposures is essential. It could be a DSLR or a mirrorless camera. A tripod is also necessary. Any lens can be used for this workshop, but a wider choice of focal lengths will give you more possibilities for composition. The photos opposite were taken with lenses varying between 17 and 140 mm.
This workshop assumes that you have a basic knowledge of the histogram and the rules of composition. These concepts are taught in the Mastery of Light 1 and The Art of Composition workshops.
