Resolution represents the amount of pixels or dots per inch.
The definition indicates the total amount of pixels in an image. When you buy a camera, this is how many megapixels it has. The higher definition you have (a higher number of megapixels) the larger you will be able to print.
To find out the maximum print size of your photos, there is a very simple calculation to do. For example, if you want to print a 12''x18'' photo at 300dpi, you must do (12x300) x (18x300) = 19,440,000 so you must have a camera with at least 20 megapixel definition to get a perfect photo. It is possible to print at a resolution lower than 300 dpi, but be aware that going lower than 150 dpi will affect the quality of your image.
Format 2.5 x 3.5 to 12 x35 on regular inkjet photo paper: 360 ppi/dpi
Format 11 x 14 to 43.75 x90 inches on fine art inkjet photo paper: 300 ppi/dpi. All formats are in inches (Imperial system). If we cannot print your photos in the desired format or if we find that the quality is not good enough, we will contact you.
