This service includes cleaning dust accessible from the chamber of the enclosure. To do this, we use the most demanding methods with the highest success rate. We clean hundreds of cameras per year, all brands (Canon, Nikon, Sony, Fuji, Panasonic, Olympus, Pentax, Leica, Hasselblad and Phase One). In the vast majority of cases, we will return your sensor to you as clean as when it left the factory. On the other hand, the age of the case and the frequency of cleaning can influence our result. In all cases, we take photos before and after our cleaning in order to demonstrate, if necessary, the level of perfection of our intervention.
Sensor self-check
Here are the steps to follow if you want to check the cleanliness of your sensor. First, you need to set your camera to the following settings:
- Set your camera to manual focus and infinity MANUAL mode and set 1/4 second to f16 at ISO 100
Auto-test
Hold your camera so the lens is facing your computer screen and take a photo, taking care to choose a white screen background.
Then watch the image directly on your device's LCD screen. Enlarge the image as much as possible and examine the entire surface looking for "pimples", circles, dimples or even what appears to be a "hair". Ideally, you open the image in photoshop and press "CTRL" "SHIFT" "L" and the harsh contrasts will show you the slightest dust particle present on your sensor.
If you see any of these, then you need a cleaning. We will be happy to do it for you!
Warning
Finally, in order to do a great job, we are going to need to change various settings on your device. This is why, among other things, your device will be set to JPEG. There is a good chance that other settings will be changed. If you would like us to take the time to note down your settings in order to put them back, it is possible, at an additional cost of $10. Otherwise, take note of them before bringing us your box.
